The Ferry, a short film.
I've been working on this slowly for the last several months. It started as a test for the video capabilities of my new camera, and soon became a fun exercise learning how to color grade, edit, and score my own little movie.
I shot this in the fall of 2014 while visiting Victoria, British Columbia. There's primarily two ways to get there, by boat or by plane. For those who have never been, ferries are a quintessential part of the Pacific Northwest experience. I've tried taking pictures on them before, but for whatever reason, the pictures never seem to capture what it really feels like. It's a slow, contemplative, tranquil, and occasionally melancholy experience. I think seeing the water, landscape, and people move around in space in this video does a pretty good job conveying that feeling. At the very least, it shows how beautiful it is in that part of the world.
I had a lot of fun making this, and it was nice to take a break from grand orchestral music for a bit. Hope you enjoy it.
